The artist rebuilds his hometown in virtual reality. Not a true-to-life replica, but the city’s emotional DNA, distilled to its essential components: a working-class town in the shadow of a monstrous factory, like countless others in the industrial West. Its residents are ghostly NPCs, the sky is gray, and the streets form a liminal map for a future artist who did not yet know what he would become, and for whom music and literature would be portals to other worlds.
