VR installation, live stream projection, sound
Kunstverein Ahlen and spatial.io, 2024
This hybrid installation with a performative intervention creates a fluid transition between the physical and the digital, allowing visitors to experience both layers at once. Their POV is streamed
live as a video projection.
The work comprises 3D-printed body scans of the artists with projected real-time performances of their faces. Embedded in the virtual space as digital twins, these life-size sculptures serve as “guardians” that mark the transition between the real and virtual worlds, making the co-existence of both visible.
The real space was scanned and rebuilt at a 1:1 scale as a virtual dimension: ruined and
overgrown like a jungle, a dystopian memory. Visitors can explore this space using VR headsets. The work was a collaboration with the performance artist Stephanie Sczepanek.
